Fall To-Do’s

Driving through the country-side in the Midwest last week, it’s obvious the harvest is in full swing.   Many combines were seen running, with many fields of corn and soybeans already in the bin.  That means fall field work is either upon us, or will commence very soon.  Many ag retailers are ramping up for an increase in work in the coming weeks, getting their fleets of application equipment tuned and primed to fertilize fields in preparation for next season.  Just as important as checking the oil in the engine, they likely need to do some maintenance to their electronics in the cab as well.

The field computer likely needs to be checked over, to ensure it has the latest firmware installed, and all of last years files have been downloaded to ensure every last bit of memory is available to capture this years data.  If you already have Slingshot field hubs connected to your Viper Pro or Envizio Pro field computers, you can confirm the data is safely stored on our website by logging in to your password protected account.  If it is there, you can confidently delete the files on the field computer knowing your data is safe.  If you need help moving your files from the field computer to the Slingshot website, our friendly customer support staff are always willing to lend a hand.

Another maintenance step ag retailers may want to consider is to purchase Slingshot API Access Keys at this time, to allow your Slingshot field hubs to work more seamlessly with one of our software partners.  The API Access Key allows you to transfer VRA files, or track assets from within our software partners programs, allowing you to bypass the Slingshot website to do the same.  Purchasing is easy.  Simply log in to your Slingshot account, and select “Purchase API Access” from the Share tab at the top of the screen.

Happy Harvest
